I am convinced that if Obama had announced his decision to make Bo his new Education Czar and free Bernie Madoff to replace Timothy Geithner at the Treasury on Tuesday night, we would be treated to the same fawning accolades and glowing tributes from the leftist media corps in this country! “GREAT SPEECH”, says Bob Woodward…the guy who brought down Nixon!
“We will move forward together, or not at all.”– Barack Obama. Either he is delusional or he is speaking to the deluded. Imagine the most visually delicious and seductive to the senses bakery you have ever known. Barack is our maestro pastry chef decked in white serving his adoring throng of customers who are waiting on line for what they have been told is health food…guaranteed to take inches off your waist and add years to your life!! And on the other side of the glass…the rest of us! This is exactly where we are!!
How in the world is it anything but delusional to attempt to inspire your audience with a “Sputnik Moment”, when in reality you have re-tasked NASA to save Muslims (who are trying to kill us) and Polar Bears (who happen to be thriving and just as cold as we are at the moment), while China plans their next manned Moon shot? And even crazier than that…How in the world do you stand in front of an audience who just gave you a $Trillion dollars you can’t account for and ask them to “invest” (SPEND) more on a totally broken public education system that already gets more funding than any other public education system on the planet???
You know, I heard that Obama did a lot of reading on his Hawaiian vacation…about Ronald Reagan! Which story makes more sense here? A) Obama hears the voter’s cry on November 2nd, reads up on Reagan, has an American Exceptionalism Epiphany and delivers his new-found religion to the Nation in his heartfelt speech…or, B) he simply knows what he has to say to get re-elected? What do you really think? Well guess what? Both A & B are wrong for the simple reason that his entire speech was one gigantic contradiction. He used a Reagan tone to say words Reagan could never have uttered! Reagan would have reminded us that it is up to US, while this imposter tells us that it is up to HIM (Big Government)!
I have a confession to make. A year and a half ago I watched The Grapes of Wrath starring Henry Fonda and got it for the first time! After being used and abused by the evil corporate guys in the black hats, the family finally pulls into a work farm, the entire set transforms from dark to light and the head of the operation who has the aura of Burl Ives and Captain Kangaroo all in one compassionate persona delivers the silky, sweet line (and I’m paraphrasing), “I’m from the government, and I’m here to help.”
I walked by the kitchen counter last night and noticed literature from a workshop my wife had attended on Teenage Suicide…
People…Our children are not stupid. We have made a world for them where 2 + 2 no longer equals 4. We have created a screenplay where the actors stab each other while professing their love for each other. The words no longer match the deeds…But we expect them to buy it! We can call it a State of the Union…But what does that really matter when we know in our hearts…we are living in a State of Delusion!
I suppose now our government is rolling up its sleeves and getting to work. That’s good. Things are going to change Chip. Government is getting back to work, with a new bi-partisanship akin to bringing all religions together and everybody will be happy. The sleeves are being rolled up and men and women from both sides of the aisle are now working diligently to save all of our sacred systems.
Yet when Mr. Smith goes to Washington with great hopes and dreams it’s just not what he thinks.
In It’s a Wonderful Life, it’s about the community, and when George becomes so distressed, eventually it is the community that lends the hand that brings George back from the brink of his own near suicide.
I think we need our communities to be more pro-active and forget taking aim at the big boys and girls in the White House. This political noise is very distracting. I think we need to look at home. I think we may need to localize.
I wish I could share your optimism my friend. The point of the “delusion” is that the closest thing we have to the energy of “community” that rallied for George Baily, has been converted from the “Tea Party” to “Violence-prone Extemists” by the nice silver-haired man in the white suit…What the hell will “local” mean after they take all teeth from local and sharpen the fangs of “central government”??? Do you not get that that was 100% the message of SOTU? “They” have created the political noise to turn you away from “truth”…Hell MSNBC has become the Attack Sarah Palin Network!
