Tonight our President will face a very anxious nation drowning in a sea of red ink and extremely divided. We are at a historic brink every bit as harrowing as any crisis we have ever faced…

On May 22, 1782, Colonel Lewis Nicola of the Continental Army had the effrontery to suggest to Washington that he reign as America’s first monarch. He did so in a seven page letter. While he had roundly berated congressional ineptitude, Washington had never entertained the idea. His reply, sent the same day, breathed with horror. What makes the letter so impressive is its finality—this serpent must be killed in the egg: “Be assured, sir, no occurrence in the course of the war has given me more painful sensations than your information of there being such ideas existing in the army as you have expressed and (that) I must view with abhorrence and reprehend with severity. I am at a loss to conceive what part of my conduct could give encouragement to an address which to me seems big with the greatest mischiefs that can befall my country. If I am not deceived in the knowledge of myself, you could not have found a person to whom your schemes are more disagreeable…Let me conjure you then, if you have any regard for your country, concern for yourself or posterity, or respect for me, to banish these thoughts from your mind.”*

Has there been another time in the history of the world where a man came as close to the glowing lure of ruling power, only to turn away and choose the selfless path instead? That choice created the birthplace of the greatest individual liberty and freedom the world has ever known.

Washington would be devastated well beyond heart break to see what we have made of his sacrifice and legacy. Today we are $14 Trillion in debt. We spend $1.67 Billion more annually than we earn as a nation. In the time it took our Congress and President to come to terms and cut $38 Billion, we spent another $54 Billion we do not have!

Since Obama has taken office, he has increased our debt by $4 Trillion. He seeks to add another $1 Trillion over the next 6 months, and borrow yet another $1.7 Trillion in 2012!! There are few voices in Washington today who speak for Washington! Rep. Paul Ryan has delivered a truth the ruling class has no desire to hear! He has named our present course for what it is, immoral! While he labored on a plan to save his grandchildren’s birthright, his ruling class peers conspire to dig the hole deeper!

Tonight, the biggest mistake the American People have ever made will square himself before the teleprompters to tell us how we need our government now more than ever before…and how now is not the time to stop spending!

With the National Media as his accomplice, he has lied to us about recovery, jobs and inflation. Charles Krauthammer has said of Obama, “Pay no attention to what he says…watch what he does.” The very power that Washington refused 229 years ago, this man means to seize. And he will do so under the veil of Energy, Public Education and National Healthcare…if we allow him one penny more!

There are essentially two voices in Washington today and one of them is lying. My heart tells me that it is not Paul Ryan!
