“The voice of God is in the gap between our thoughts. The purpose of meditation is to widen the gap.”- Deepak Chopra
There is so much “noise” in our world today that it is almost laughable to imagine ourselves finding any freedom at all from the greatest noise of all…our inner thought “chatter”! The outer stresses of the world we live in conspire to produce an almost frantically exhaustive inner dialogue…that takes a devastating toll on us spiritually, moving us further from the voice of God.
The remedy is quite simple but very counterintuitive. The fact is that stress causes us to tighten our grip, when what is really needed more than ever…is to simply let go. And the lethal, vicious cycle-nature of it is this. The more stress we feel, the more we tighten. And the more we tighten, the harder it is to let go.
Never in our mortal lives, has God had more to say…of what we have needed to listen to more of! Isn’t it worth considering the sharpening of our listening skills? Some simple adjustments in our daily thoughts and activities can go quite a long way in preparing the soil for the miracle of God’s love and grace. I have one such miracle to share with you, and then most importantly afterwards, what God said to the ears that have learned to listen…
Forgive them…love them even more in your heart and pray for them. And with every blow they strike against you, stand that much firmer and taller in your resolve to fill your heart’s mission and purpose…Never out of anger or hatred, but out of love and compassion with the very same energy of devotion and commitment that every mother knows.
• When they call you an extremist; love them, thank them for sharing, think of the extremity of our $14 TRILLION DEBT…and then find another person to add to your Tea Party Newsletter email list in their honor!
• When they call you a racist; forgive them, thank them for teaching you patience, think of our American Heritage of welcoming ethnic diversity through legal immigration…and then stand up and firmly say NO to the DREAM ACT, AMNESTY, OPEN BORDERS & ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION!
• When they call you a hater; pray for them, thank them for turning your cheek, think of the passionate love that Katharine Lee Bates felt in her heart for America the Beautiful from the summit of Pikes Peak in 1893!…and then resolve in your own heart to defend her honor ALWAYS, and to (politely & lovingly) deal a swift kick in the ass to any who would dare apologize for her EVER again!!
