What was Columbus thinking? Probably pretty simple and basic stuff right? Like…where the hell am I? Well 519 years later, on a sunny Monday in October…I’m thinking the exact same thing! So taking it a step further, I imagined that since it was a new world his next thought must have been, “Whose world is this?” Bingo! Once again I’m in sync with CC! But where CC and I parted ways was our very next thought. Because where he was thinking, “Man I really have to go!”…I’m thinking, “These people are definitely not living in the same world!” Let’s test my theory shall we?
Wall Street Occupier and NBA Basket Ball Fan learning that the first two weeks of the season have been canceled because of labor disputes…the top players make $20 Million per year for putting a ball through a hoop! Are they all living in the same world?
Wall Street Occupier and Yankee Fan after the man who earns $32 Million for swinging a bat at a ball hits a lowly 189 for the series and goes down swinging to end their playoff hopes! Are they all living in the same world?
The Occupy Boston crowd holding a rally of support for a jihadist… and the families of 9/11 victims and all men and women in uniform! http://www.theblaze.com/stories/occupy-boston-holds-rally-for-accused-terrorist-charged-with-planning-violent-jihad-against-u-s/ Are they all living in the same world?
Obama, Democrats and Ruling Class Mayor Michael “Stay as long as you like!” Bloomberg in Solidarity with the Public Fornicators, Defecators & Capitalism-Haters demanding more from the Capital-Makers! Are they all living in the same world?
I know this is the Old World but, in the EU where the adults can inflate governments beyond the ability of mankind to pay for them…children can no longer blow up balloons! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/eu/8816601/Children-to-be-banned-from-blowing-up-balloons-under-EU-safety-rules.html Are they all living in the same world?
So I think I have clearly proven my theory…which begs the question:
How in the world can we solve the problems of so many different worlds when you’re living on yours and I’m living on mine?
By the way…there is some good news! Apparently physicists have just reported from Geneva that they have fired subatomic particles known as neutrinos faster than the speed of light!
Well Hell’s Bells…if I’m reading this right, it means we can fix all this before Columbus gets here!!! 🙂

Interesting theory, but of course not complete. While there are many on the protest line that should take a look in the mirror, the essence of the occupation is not lost. This is not a republican or democratic issue. The banks are so huge and there that clearly are “not in the same world”. There are companies making enormous profits and not creating the jobs that they are”suppose” to. You say that they are the “job creators” but WHERE ARE THE JOBS? This country allows people to speak their mind in protest and yes i do agree that the men a women need to find a way to allow the businesses to stay opened, they also have a right to protest when they believe that they are being wronged. To say they are “capitalist haters” REALLY ? I am a capitalist and yet I absolutely believe that the banks and businesses that are profiting from all of this must allow the profits to rain down on the rest of us. The “job creators” have to step up and CREATE JOBS.
PS… Please don’t take this the wrong way but…Exactly WHAT point did you prove? That the gigantic corporations that are raking in BILLIONS in profits, are holding on to their money and not creating jobs and are finding the tax loop holes that the rest of us can’t even hope to find. Remember GE? We are all responsible for this disaster. We sit back and hope that someone will watch or that people in power will do the right thing. But we are horribly mistaken and are paying the price. There are too many that are greedy and cannot control it as well as there are too many that are lazy and expecting a hand out. If people could be trusted to do the right thing,…those that have so much and hold on to it, and those that are just too lazy and take advantage of what they can get for free from govt. then maybe we would not be in this position. Do not stand and say that all of those that are holding on to their wealth are justified in doing so. There is a moral, humane obligation to help those in need just as much as those that CAN work and choose not to, need to step up and not be allowed to take advantage of a system that is trying to help them.
Your sort of making my point JT…One world has rejected and revised its Battle Hymn of the Republic to go something like, “Mine eyes have seen the coming of the Chairman of the Board, he has picked the very pockets where the Hope & Change was stored…” Pretty close? In this world the Rich do not pay their fair share! Close again right?
Then there is the other world where the Battle Hymn of the Republic is music to the ears of its inhabitants…exactly as it was originally written. And in this same world the top 1% of all taxpayers pay 40% of ALL taxes, the top 10% pay 70% and the bottom 50% pay ZIP, ZERO, NADA! http://economix.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/07/30/top-1-paid-more-in-federal-income-taxes-than-bottom-95-in-07/ …which happened to be my point.
Interestingly, your point about GE is a matter of Corporate Welfare & Cronyism and a patch of common ground for both worlds. But in what world does it make sense to throw the baby out with the bath water?
PS- I forgot to mention that the inhabitants of world 2 would like to ask the inhabitants of world 1 why they are protesting on Wall Street instead of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. where their corrupt policies and interventions are responsible for more human suffering than all of the worst atrocities of the private sector combined! hmmm?
Corporations don’t exist for the purpose of creating jobs. If it were within my brain-power to create a giant ultra-profitable corporation staffed only by robots and computers with zero employees I would do it tomorrow. Who wouldn’t? Businesses exist solely to make money.
“Ordinarily” I would agree Mr. G…certainly from the shareholder’s perspective…and the boards responsible to them. BUT, there are plenty of people who start businesses (i.e; Steve Jobs) where tthe money is secondary…so I guess you could say while corporations don’t existt to create Jobs, Jobs existed to create corporations!
:-)…its early, no coffee yet.
