My father passed from this world on October 12, 2001; just about 8 months after being diagnosed with brain cancer. He was very much aware of the world around him until the day he died. As horrifically significant as 9/11 was, I don’t remember discussing it with him, other than the fact that they were to have flown out of Kennedy Airport that morning back to Florida. What I do remember and will never forget, is wondering what it must have been like for him after the Towers fell…knowing that you have only days, and that you are leaving loved ones in a world where things have gone so wrong.
Much has happened since. The only Tea Party in my father’s world was the one that caffeinated Boston Harbor long before he was born. I can’t say that I ever had any real deep political discussion with my father because the fact is that we never really had any deep discussions about much of anything…except in his last year that is. During those last months we talked a lot about what we had missed out on in each other.
Now I look back and see his life in a much more positive light, even with the warts and imperfections that plague us all. I remember him, and I remember his friends. I remember how he seemed to come alive and become so much more animated when he and my mother entertained their friends. It was like he was holding court. The Grummer’s, Beaudette’s and Sullivan’s; Investment, Marketing and Banking Executives…the cocktail parties. I remember it as if it were yesterday. I was fascinated by the conversations and awed by the stories that nobody could tell like Gene Grummer! I think all of us kids were a little envious of the camaraderie they shared. Visually, it was like growing up on the set of the Retro hit-series Mad Men. But in the light of retrospect, they were the last of the Sane Men!
I think back on how my sisters and I, sat huddled on the edges of a world we longed to be a part of…Sabrina-like voyeurs documenting in our minds eye, every mysterious sight and sound of the grownup world! I realize so clearly and vividly now, exactly who they were and what it was that made them shine brighter as a group, than they were probably able to maintain individually. You see, the very glue that held them together was really more of a powerful roux that strengthened and deepened their friendship. They all shared the same deeply held core values! Family, love of country, a deep abiding faith, honor, integrity, respect, humility, virtue, work ethic, commitment, loyalty…this is who they were!
Equally and tragically clear to me now, is what the Elites have done to their memory. All you have to do is watch one episode of Mad Men to understand their diabolically cunning, clever and stealth intention. They have transformed the Greatest Generation from the qualities above to a dark collective soul of self-serving, womanizing, cut-throat, back-stabbing, ladder-climbing creeps…while we sit back totally entertained!
The devastating reality of this is that while you and I know who our parents were, our kids are coming home from the same schools that gave us the Occupy Wall Street generation, totally buying into the characterization of Mad Men! It all fits! And on another set the very same Elite are feverishly cooking up more mind mush social fallacy productions like Glee and Modern Family, while Stewart and Colbert are dutifully lampooning every Conservative who poses a threat to their Liberal Fantasy Land!
PEOPLE!! HELLO OUT THERE!! Liberal Land is very nice…it’s funny and cute. BUT NOTHING WORKS HERE…NOTHING!!! IT’S ALL A BIG LIE!!! EVEN THE HARMONIES ON GLEE…ITS ALL FAKE…A-U-T-O T-U-N-E!!!
The real Mad Men are the perpetrators of the lie we have been systematically fed for years! The real Mad Men are actually running things like our government, our schools and…THE WORLD! You tell me…how is any of this working out for you? But whatever you do, don’t blame the Sane Men! They handed us a beautiful world…and WE turned it over to the Mad Men!

I think you need to get more sleep! Quiet your mind, meditate and maybe you can listen more carefully. The rhetoric is getting more intense as you lose sleep.
How can you say with a clear conscience that “The Three Stooges” is less “mind mush” than anything else on TV. Television is ENTERTAINMENT ! FUN ! Remember that from your past? Maybe if you could put your political self righteous hat away once in a while, and enjoy life more, things would not be as bleak as you paint it.
Why you…I resemble that remark! Knyuk, Knyuk, Knyuk! 🙂
