Truth or Consequences!

Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; ~ 2 Timothy 4:2-3

Welcome to the Great American Apex Moment. It’s our second as a nation, the first coming with our separation from Great Britain in the American Revolution of 1776. Apex means the high point, the climax of something, in this case the American journey. There are laws of nature and there are laws of men. Wise kings, like David, establish laws in harmony with the laws of nature and nature’s God. Our Founders were thusly inspired to do the same. Foolish and evil kings, like Ahab and the Biden Administration forsake, ignore, and violate natural laws, to make themselves the supreme rulers of the totalitarian state. This is why many if not most of the Biden Administration have no oaths of office on record.  

At our birth as an independent nation over two hundred and forty years ago, we were very much like the Exodus 1:7 children of Israel who were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceedingly mighty; and the land was filled with them. Ruckman notes “(1:1) Jacob’s original name. The great spiritual truth that applies to the Christian is that we ‘enter Egypt’ (a type of world) through our fathers; that is, we were born unredeemed. (1:7) The Israelites mixed with the Egyptians and picked up their culture and their false gods (see Ezek. 23:19 and 20:6-8).” Sound familiar? All it took was a change of kings (1:8) to transform the Israelites from free men into slaves. God uniquely blessed America to be born a nation of the people, by the people, and for the people. But if blessings were a cat, we are surely living our ninth life. The Bible is crystal clear and abounding with examples of people and nations who suffered the consequences after turning away from God. For the Israelites it was 400 years of bondage. For us there is absolutely no way of knowing what the other side of this great inflection point of our apex looks like. I know this, our patient, loving and longsuffering God is giving America a window of time in which to make the most important decisions of our lives. The problem we have is our combined Biblical and Constitutional illiteracy cripples our ability to see, understand, and choose wisely. The great spiritual truth Ruckman alluded to is tragically lost on most Americans. In fact, in this, what I would argue is our Exodus 2.0 moment, in his introduction to the Book of Exodus Ruckman goes on to reveal the Seven Truths of Exodus. It bears considering that only 20% of Israelis followed Moses out of Egypt into the Promised Land. It also bears considering that it was a forty year walk in the desert before they arrived:

The Seven Truths of Exodus

1- Unsaved mankind is like a slave in bondage to a fierce master.

2- It takes direct intervention from God to free the slave.

3- God chooses messengers to bring about His “emancipation proclamation.”

4- Redemption is by blood and power. (Note “Shepherd for Sale” John MacArthur stated this past week “there is no power in the blood of Jesus.”

5- There can be no compromise with the world system by the redeemed.

6- Redemption is only the start of a lifetime of trials and testings.

7- God has standards of holiness which are fixed and absolute.

I would argue that Mr. Ruckman left out a very important truth; Truth itself. Before the seven can come to pass, all foolish and evil kings who forsake, ignore, and violate natural laws, Truth must be disposed of, or at the very least outlawed…as our dear brother in Christ from Canada, Pastor Artur Pawlowski can most certainly testify to!
