: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. ~ Ephesians 6:20
Deuteronomy 28 is often referred to as the most terrible chapter in the Bible, and 28:63 the most terrible verse in the entire Bible. Why? Because, as Dr. Ruckman writes, “it is the apotheosis of hate and vengeance and has never been surpassed.” The same God who rejoiced over us to do us good, will rejoice over us to destroy us…for refusing to do what we ought. During Nehemiah’s 1:4 certain days of mourning and weeping over the destruction of his beloved city of Jerusalem, he faced and owned his own sin and the sin of his people, “We have delt very corruptly against thee,” he acknowledged to his God. He came to the place of true repentance: The place where the behavior dies. Where the habit loses oxygen. When the sin you used to defend starts to disgust you. (Credit Jason Bowden)
Over and over again we blame God for His neglect of people by our sympathy with them…we imply that we are filling up what God has forgotten to do…In all probability the Spirit of God will begin to show us that people are where they are because we have neglected to do what we ought. ~ Oswald Chambers, Instant Social Reform
Don’t take the bait. United We Stand
Satan’s not targeting the unbelievers, he’s coming after the lukewarm Christians. The Deception Christ Warned Us About
The only power Satan has is the power we give him through our ignorance, fear, and sin. ~ Derek Prince
Oswald continues, Today the great craze socialism, and men are saying that Jesus Christ came as a social reformer. Nonsense We are the social reformers; Jesus Christ came to alter us, and we try to shirk our responsibility by putting our work on Him. Jesus alters us and puts us right; then these principle of His instantly makes us social reformers. They begin to work straightaway where we live, in our relationships… “Consider how God has delt with you,” says Jesus, “and then consider that you do likewise to others.” Because if we don’t, we know who will.
When we do what we ought, we grow. When we know what we ought to do and don’t, our spiritual life begins to atrophy, decay and slowly die. God gave us this life and everything we need to do so much more.
