Wow, the life that has flowed between then and now! What in the hell did my generation know about freedom in those days anyway? We certainly didn’t pay for it, as did the generations before us. Perhaps that’s why many of us are still a bit baffled over the fuss the Tea Party is making?
I have found that many things we treasure in life do not disappear all at once under the expecting eye, but are lost to us more slowly and incrementally…outside of the eye’s attention span. But how can even the most attentive eye focus on the treasure these days when they move us from crisis to crisis on an almost hourly basis. From Swine Flu, to Financial Crisis, to Shoe Bombers, to Global Warming and Wikileaks…how is all of this happening?? Better yet…WHY?
Every one of these events has created an opportunity for government to respond. And the response of the Obama administration in every case has been an incremental and unprecedented expansion of its scope and authority. “The course of history shows that as the government grows, liberty decreases.” -Thomas Jefferson.
So here comes the Tea Party…this Red, White and Blue Energizer Bunny of Americana doing everything it possibly can to get the eyes of America re-focused on her greatest treasure…and how do we respond? We lie back like the leopard clad “Janice” character from the TV comedy Friends, filing our nails while Big Gov has its way with us!! You think I’m joking? I will prove to you that I am not.
Perhaps the most lethal weapon government has in its arsenal and the final nail in the coffin of liberty is its “response” to the global warming HOAX! Notice how they ain’t about to let this fish get away. I watched Ted Turner on Morning Joe the other day. “Yeah, we should have called it Climate Change instead of Global Warming”, he said. I thought to myself, how stupid are we really?
The New York Times said that it did not publish the now famous hacked email story that exposed the manipulation of temperature data by the top scientists along with the story of how they excluded dissenting opinion, because the emails were obtained illegally! And yet, they couldn’t get to the presses fast enough with the illegal booty from Wiki??
Look at who is lining up behind Assange people! It is the Chaos Brigade…every Anarchist, Socialist & Marxist on the planet has now realized its Carpe Diem time baby! This IS the perfect storm, and you haven’t even thought about high ground.
Kristofferson was high…Freedom is not just another word. Freedom is the most God-blessed treasure you have ever held in your hands. American Woman, what are you waiting for? Stop snapping your gum, drop your finger nail file, put your hair up in that bandana, roll your sleeves up and fight for your cubs again!

Chip- so cool that you are able to pull this bloggo together!! Since you’re probably not pissed off enough, I thought I’d relate the latest outrage from the NYS DEC. In 2006 the Leg passed a law requiring State diesel trucks to meet 2008 Federal emissions standards. Diesel engines were redesigned for 2008 to burn lower sulfur fuel; there was a mad rush by trucking companies to buy trucks with the older, less expensive engines. Needless to say there is a finite universe of the newer power units in the private sector. Even though the State itself has been unable to shed all its non-compliant vehicles (which would include recently, say 2002-08 vintage, purchases), the DEC decided to require all diesel trucks either delivering to State facilities or working on State jobs to be ’08 compliant by Jan. 1, 2011. This was not what the legislation intended; the DEC just decided this all by itself! The fines for violating this are absurd and confiscatory as usual. Think about massive fleets of cement trucks unable to legally deliver to state highway or building projects in 3 weeks. A retrofit of a non-compliant truck costs about $30,000. These assholes need to be seriously re-educated! Less fuel efficient gasoline trucks are exempt by the way.
Seth- It took me 57 years to figure out women, how to balance my checkbook (turn it over to wife) and find the “address” of happiness! But I am convinced that I will go to my grave without understanding how any intelligent person can have one ounce of faith in government.
