“We must reject the idea that every time a law’s broken, society is guilty rather than the law-breaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.” -Ronald Reagan
When I read the story that Obama wanted to study Reagan to learn how to push his agenda, I had a very mixed reaction. Part of me laughed at the painfully obvious irony, and part of me cried for those of us who just don’t get it! http://patriotupdate.com/1125/obama-studies-reagan-years-for-guidance-on-pushing-agenda
If in fact Leadership is truly our only way home, and I believe in my heart it is, then I fear we shall not see home for a very, very long time…because there is no true leader! That is to say, there is none in the places we need it most. Yes, leadership can be taught…but the true essence of real leadership is either there or it isn’t. Let’s look at Reagan and Obama and you tell me who had it and who doesn’t.
Did Reagan push, or did Reagan inspire people to his cause? OOPS, I slipped already! With Reagan, it was never “his”…it was always “ours”! We’ve been down before. In fact, we were a national portrait of melancholy just before Reagan took office. But something about us changed…almost before Carter’s clothes were packed. It was simply how he talked to us about us! First of all, he never spoke exclusively to the whites, or the Republicans…He spoke to us all as one people he so clearly loved and respected. He spoke to ALL of us as Americans!
Now look at us this day! We are at each other’s throats on the very doorstep of anarchy!! How…Why?? Are we not the same people Reagan loved and respected not so long ago? What is different? We are not here by accident my friends, we are here by design. The man who sits in the seat of Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Kennedy and Reagan does not see us in the same way they did, and so it is clearly not in him to speak to us as they once did.
Instead, he talks about us to the rest of the world…as if we’re an errant child desperately in need of his direction and authority! He divides us by praising and recognizing one group over, above and at the expense of the other! He lavishes tyranny with the soft, silky tongue of appeasement while “bringing a gun” to the “enemy” …his own people!!! And yet we are “led” to believe that a grass-roots movement of constitutionally minded, God-fearing Conservatives are somehow responsible for a deranged wacko in Arizona??? HELLO!!!
Folks…You and I are in an ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP with our President, and the sooner we recognize that and get the help we need, the better! Think about it….the dynamics are exactly the same. The abuser has the power. The abuser destroys the self-respect and self-reliance of the abused. The abuser creates conflict and ultimately a sense of dependency in the abused. Game over!
If you have ever witnessed the pattern of abuse in the relationship of anyone you know, and you’re lucky enough…then you also know that one of the most powerfully inspiring sights to behold is that very moment when the abused finds their inner strength and finally stands up to their abuser to reclaim their individual freedom, dignity and self-respect! Our true leader is in “us” and I pray to God we find him or her SOON!
