“You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied … today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air … and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel … it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.” ~ David to Goliath
Good Sunday Morning Dear Friend! I begin every week with the passionate intention of listening to what God has to say; interpreting his message as it develops through the course of the week in order to share it with you here. It comes to me through the craziest varieties of natural events, synchronicities, conversations, news events and relationships both work and personal. Earlier this past week I caught a Bill Hall piece at Money & Markets entitled, “Yellen & Draghi Message is Music to Wall Street’s Ears”, and the image of David & Goliath appeared to my mind. Later that same week, the very same Money & Markets published “How to be a Better David in a World of Goliaths”! And that’s the way it is…sometimes vaguely subtle, and sometimes a well-placed stone. 😉
Our Modern Day “David & Goliath”
The neuron path from Yellen & Draghi to David & Goliath in my mind is a bit convoluted but here goes. To the extent money is power and accommodative central banks expand their balance sheets, they become bigger while you and I grow smaller. Hence, we became David to their Goliath…in my head. And, since we all understand that absolute power corrupts absolutely, it also becomes a good versus evil script as well.
Now with that as the backdrop-context to the week, here’s what God had to say…
Talking with my good friend Clay, we were lamenting the silence of the church pastors and priests on the rather significant issues of our day. Most of them are completely AWOL on the shocking world-wide epidemic of Christian persecutions and attacks, as well as the relentless assaults on our 1st Amendment rights; effectively leaving us (David) alone to fend for ourselves against the forces of evil (Goliath).
I thought to myself, that’s exactly how most of us feel in the Liberty Movement! Goliath, by virtue of his size, casts such an overwhelming shadow of influence that spans all media, sports, entertainment and pop culture…it’s nearly impossible to resist his appeal. Pretty soon everybody is laughing with him, talking like him and even telling his jokes…except for us. And as his power and influence grows, we find ourselves more and more separate from the “smiling face” of society and the people we love…many of our friends and family members. In the shiny image playing on the big screen…he grows bigger…we grow smaller. We really are alone…or so we think!
Churchill (David) was alone in the beginning, I remembered thinking. I wondered what his life would have been had there been no Third Reich (Goliath). I shared these thoughts with a small fellowship of like-minded souls on Friday as we found ourselves a bit down-in-the-mouth over the present gathering storm and our unfavorable odds against such a stacked deck. It made me realize the power of a great blessing; Life brings us places we would never want to find ourselves…to find ourselves!
By now you’ve probably seen the video of the family cat (David) who saved the little boy from the attacking dog (Goliath). So you see, when we’re looking, how all these unrelated events relate and connect as a message? But it gets way better…
So then I come to read Ann Barnhardt’s (David “squared”!) post on Saturday in which she opens with “Talk about a confluence of events.” 🙂 …and then proceeds to describe her encounter with “Crazy Dude” (Goliath) inside the Tabernacle! God ties his message to us together perfectly through Ann’s amazing experience and post-event assessment. Yesterday I wrote about our Modern Day Philistine Goon Squad (Goliath). Central Banks, Corporate Cronyism and Corrupt Politicians are their “sword, spear and javelin” as they hover over us at the edge of prophecy, aligned to defy and defeat (in his house!).
God is telling us clearly “in our moment” not to despair, not to cower and not to wait behind trees for him, or the next George Washington (or the cowards in the pew behind you!). Everything we need came standard…factory installed. Oh, and if you haven’t seen “David” the cat yet, Ann includes the “Instructive (Cat) Combat Tactic” video at the end of her post. What a beautiful week!
Dear Lord, please give me the strength to live every moment of this day with honor, courage and integrity. Amen.
