The Sunday Morning Tune-up ~ May 25, 2014

So We Wouldn't Have To...

So We Wouldn’t Have To…

Back home we got a taxidermy man. He gonna have a heart attack when he see what I brung him. ~ Capt. Quint

Good Memorial Day Weekend Sunday Dear Friend! I thought it would be appropriate to dedicate today’s tune-up to the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice so that you and I could enjoy the freedom to worship and express our faith; without which, we are merely mice on wheels in the “pursuit of happiness”.

I have a Catholic friend who cannot get beyond the abrasively direct style of fellow Catholic Ann Barnhardt, to reap the harvest of wisdom and inspiration she has to offer. I myself prefer honesty and courage over etiquette and sensitivity. We have lost the energy of masculine directness. It’s easier to go around…or so we think. On this day of Memorial Days, I want to honor those who didn’t hold back, didn’t go around and didn’t get hung up in the purgatory of posturing. In a bold straight line, they simply did what they had to…so you and I wouldn’t have to.

The Heart of the Warrior in the Den of Thieves & Taxidermy Men

Where does that kind of “self-less” come from…he asked himself in the age of “selfies”. I guess the more important question would be where has it gone?

“In our culture, not only has the notion of self-sacrifice unto death been completely lost, but people have been taught that they are personally “God’s gift to the world” and that their life is the single most important thing that there is. People have such an inflated sense of their own importance that they simply cannot fathom that perhaps their ultimate “purpose” on this earth might be to buy 2.3 seconds of time so that someone else can advance on a gunman, ultimately saving numerous lives.”                  ~ Ann Barnhardt

We know who the warriors are because they never hide. But who are the thieves who have turned the heart and soul of America into Quint’s big fish…which I have to say, came to my mind as the most perfect metaphor of who we’ve become. As you know, you can kill something and still have it look alive on the outside with the help of a good “taxidermy man”…and nothing but stuffing inside.

So who are the thieves and taxidermy men who’ve killed us and stuffed us to make us look real? Well, I’ll tell you they’re everywhere. They’ve come into the mind and heart of America like Sosa’s Columbian hit men swarming the walls of Antonio Montana’s compound in the dead of night. They stole the heart of man in the very tabernacle of man’s faith and then skewered it with Vatican ll. They stole the mind of man in the very classroom where he came to learn, and then twisted it with Common Core.

In fact, all you really need to do to catch the thief in action is sit in on a typical Common Core heist in action. Watch as the thief explains the new “math formula” to your children! They have made the straight line of honor a pretzel maze of mindless double-speak nonsense! They are turning our children into “friendly” selfie-absorbed robots! And when they have stolen all there is to steal, they process the next generation of fish stuffing out into the pretend world where they will work at pretend jobs, attend pretend churches and raise pretend families. “Go to the mirror boy!”…my favorite musical moment of awakening from the mind of Pete Townsend!

As a result of our infiltration, today’s warrior suffers a conundrum beyond surreal. To stay in a straight line when those we love seek to ban the “whistleblower” who would expose the thieves…for being “hateful”, requires a certain grace shall we say. How do we stay true and respond? Ann gives us the lesson beautifully in her “Reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus”.

On this day of days in every small town across America, may the light of God’s love lead each and every one of us to the mirror of our own awakening to unite us in spirit with those who died for us to live…Gloria Dei est vivens homo.  The glory of God is man fully alive.
