Dennis Prager captured my attention years ago when he was asked what he saw as the greatest threat to America. His response was as stoically centered and well delivered as any I’ve ever witnessed. “The number of Americans who don’t know what it means to be American” was his simple reply. My friend Pastor Bill commented on Tuesday’s “Communist Church” piece, in which he reminded me of a quote by one of our greatest Americans who possessed an intellect second only to Jefferson, who not only deeply intuited what it meant to be an American, he put his finger directly on the threat:
“How then shall we perform it? At what point shall we expect the approach of danger? By what means shall we fortify against it? Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant to step the ocean and crush us at a blow? Never! All the armies of Europe, Asia, and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest, with a Bonaparte for a commander, could not by force take a drink from the Ohio or make a track on the Blue Ridge in a trial of a thousand years. At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer. If it ever reach us it must spring up amongst us; it cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen we must live through all time or die by suicide.” ~ Abraham Lincoln’s Lyceum Address
So naturally when Prager weighed in on the “Left’s Hatred for Pamela Geller”, I was all ears!
“Contrast American reactions to Pamela Geller with European reactions to Charlie Hebdo. After Islamists murdered 12 editors and writers of the Charlie Hebdo staff, millions of French citizens gathered to protest the murders and announce “Je suis Charlie.” There were very few French voices blaming Charlie Hebdo for “provoking” the murderers, or for being “haters.” And, it is worth noting, some of the caricatures of Muhammad published in the French magazine were truly obscene – unlike the caricatures produced by Pamela Geller’s contest which, so far as I’ve seen, were only caricatures and cartoons…But in America, there were no comparable demonstrations on behalf of Pamela Geller. Instead, there were widespread condemnations.”
This is amazing to me!!! The French are becoming more American and America is becoming more French!! How is this possible? There’s only one plausible explanation to my mind. The French now know to a man, that the Alligator is the Alligator…while Americans in almost the same proportion believe the Alligator is a log! (You must watch this. Funny and spot on!)
But herd mentality and PC blindness are nothing new to those of us more comfortable on the free range. The most disturbing development in our own Texas version of Hebdo is that Conservatives Bill O’Reilly and Laura Ingram turned on Geller! This reminded me of the story Michael Savage discussed on his show yesterday. He talked about the German steel manufacturer that supported Hitler BEFORE the SA became the SS because they saw what was happening and didn’t want to be on the wrong side of power! Are we at that point?
Think about it. The man behind the #1 cable show has built for himself quite the empire to lose by being on the wrong side! He made his fortune through a common-man-moderate resistance approach to the Obama Regime (He’s no Michael Savage or Alex Jones!). But he sees a Regime boldly going where no Regime has ever gone…without effective opposition! The GOP is a ghost and the American Herd thinks the Alligator is a harmless, even helpful log for crying out loud!
He sees a government picking the winners and losers. He sees Obama bringing entire cities to their knees, and he knows what will happen to a herd without “cash”. Are you starting to see what is happening here?
Those who have the most to lose tend to become slaves to their wealth. They will try to make friends with the Alligator by feeding it…as long as they have food to feed it. The rest of us will do one of two things. We will either avoid the Alligator…as long as we can, or we’ll treat it to a round in the head of double odd buck before it gets any bigger. We’re the minority, in case you haven’t guessed…the three percenters!
For those of you who aren’t quite sure about the Alligator yet, please allow me to introduce you to our Lady Joan of Arc…or you might even think of her as Miss Crocodile Dundee! Either way, you’re not apt to go stepping on any Alligators after hearing what the lady has to say! 😉
