The Sunday Morning Tune-up ~ A Rooster’s Gotta Crow, Family First!

Cogburn

Now the sons of Eli were corrupt; they did not know the Lord. ~ 1 Samuel 2:12

The Scripture teaches that if we do not faithfully lead our own household, we lack the qualifications to lead beyond the home—in other words, if it doesn’t work at home, don’t export it. ~ John Maxwell, Family First

Nature and the natural world are a wonderful teacher. This time last year we bought eight chicks to give us egg-laying hens. There are five today, having lost three to Fischer Cats. Two weeks ago, we added Cogburn to the family. He never lets them out of his sight, and he always lets them eat first. I believe our Fischer Cat worries are behind us. Watching this amazing bird around the hens in contrast to the Pedophile World of Disney made me realize what the enemy has done to us, and how he done it.

We could debate for hours how and when western man went to bed one night as Cogburn, hung up his spurs, and woke up the next day as Eli. But it sure as hell happened, and may God forgive us for the consequences. I know this, when we sat around the tell-a-vision in Wyckoff, NJ as a typical American family in the sixties, with a tall glass of apple cider from Tice’s Farm, and bowl of freshly made popcorn in our laps, the Wonderful World of Disney sure seemed wonderful at the time. I wonder…is it possible that Walt Disney, a 33-degree Freemason, was baiting the hook sixty years ago?

By the time Eli realized his mistakes it was too late for him. “If one man sins against another, God will mediate for him; but if a man sins against the Lord, who can intercede for him?” It is not, however too late for us right here right now in Florida, New York. The same enemy that runs Disney Corporation, is the same enemy that runs the Florida Union-Free School District in Florida, New York. They’re ALL hungry, sick, and evil Fischer Cats who want your chicks!

You know…a rooster can kill a Fischer Cat with his spurs. And don’t you know there are Fischer Cats who need killin’? But see, herein lies the problem with western man. The watchman (modern church) told him they need lovin’. You begin to see? Sadly, I KNOW there are more than a few of you reading these words who have lost or are losing your chicks to the very same Fischer Cat. But take heart, for it is never to late! If we went to bed as Cogburn yesterday, well then, we can sure as hell wake up as Cogburn tomorrow…God willing, and don’t you know He is! Loves His chicks! And THE most important thing we can do this very day, hour, minute, second, is dust off our spurs, gather up our chicks, put God and family first, and get out of their “Wonderful World”! Amen? County By County!

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away. Revelation 21:1

My two unsolicited cents – Fisher cats, chicks, disney, corruption, evil……

Born in the sixties I grew up going to Sunday School and church – like the majority of my classmates.I grew up knowing right and wrong, respecting my elders, police teachers and parents or else. Like most, we grew up and saw the world a tad bit different than our parents did, much like our children see the world much different than we do. Right, Wrong, Indifferent it matters not.

People today have to walk a very thin line – to keep their jobs, to be patient, to be inclusive. Back in the day this was not the case as headlines rarely spoke of today’s grievances. They existed of course, but were not newsworthy. Flash forward 50 years and those grievances are on full display 24/7 and through theatrics make mountains out of mole hills. That is not to downplay the grievances – they are very real for some, but to pretend it’s all encompassing for the masses is a bit much.

Have ‘we’ dropped the ball or is evil running rampant……Do we think if someone votes as a D they are evil? ill advised? uneducated? Do we think if someone votes as a R they are godly? knowledgeable? To assume either is a disservice to self.

I have grown very VERY tired of reading of the supposed ‘all encompassing’ ills of this country of ours because it’s just not reality. Not everything is a fire, not everything is rampant, not everything is dire. Yet, here we are pretending otherwise.

If WE have not laid the foundation for the future generations within our own households the blame sits squarely on the parents….not the school boards, not the library books, not the colleges, not the internet…..US! If we merely vote the party line – we willfully accept the outcome…etc. Hard pill to swallow? Tough – it’s the truth as WE gave them the power!

WE were raised to be inherently tolerant. In turn, we have passed that on to our children who now are much more tolerant than we. In fact, their peers may cross dress or come to school as a dog, and the majority don’t think twice about it – but we as adults do. Why? We are not growing up in this world – the kids are. They need our protection but not overprotection. Our incessant need to overprotect, right the ills of the world, to create ‘our utopia’ or another’s hell……..it’s out of control.

It’s a dangerous slope when we believe we are the only grown ups in the room. As the saying goes….’walk a mile in my shoes’. Not everyone is on the same journey nor path. If we don’t want our kids to be reading a book – assuming the parents have already read it and know its not age appropriate, then as a parent – take it from them. WHY do we keep giving that power to others or demanding its pull from a shelf? Isn’t that just lazy? Have we become so naive to believe that if we pull it from a shelf the topic disappears too? These books exist – school library or not. Much like the movements of LGBTQ (started in the 70s) to Green deals (started in the 50s) to BLM (50s-60s) – these are not ‘new’ phenomenons although they are presented as such with the daily front and center headlines. A government hell bent on a new world….not new – just read some history. On a side note, Judy Blume’s book ‘Are you there God its me Margaret’ was THE book of my middle school days that was hidden and secretly shared. Not age appropriate and dealing with topics NONE of us truly understood. We survived.

WE have become a lazy all talk non action society – It’s easy to give an opinion on everything. Don’t like what Disney is doing? Don’t go, cancel your subscription etc.as money matters.
Don’t like books? the curriculum? Take it away from your child/home school/change districts. Don’t like what the school board/government is up to? Maybe understand who you are voting for – taking time to do your own digging and not base your vote on someone else’s opinion before filling in that dot! This whole theme of ‘they’ must change makes us no better than them and history proves this point. Want the world to change? Start at home!

We are living in what has been aptly termed the mean world syndrome. Everything we watch, read etc. is directly influencing our attitudes, beliefs and opinions about the world. As George Gerbner said in 1970 “Fearful people are more dependent, more easily manipulated and controlled, more susceptible to deceptively simple, strong, tough measures and hard-line measures.” Much like Covid and the shot – We ARE in a divided world – nothing has changed – nothing new under the sun. The TRUTH always comes out but in the interim, like everything else, we can either choose to live in a constant state of upheaval and fear or not. I am not saying become an ostrich but I am saying stay educated, take personal responsibility and be calm. This is all foretold 2 Timothy 3 but God wins.

“In the beginning of a change, the patriot is a scarce man, brave, hated, and scorned. When his cause succeeds however, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot.” ~ Mark Twain…Remember Lisa?

      • Lisa says:

Aww Chip, you kind of make my point. That said, I never felt ‘we’ had the market on being a patriot given that a patriot (supporter of country) can be found on both sides of the aisle, and in a D, I, C & R home, we just come at it with a different lense & experience. As your opening line reads ‘Family First’- paramount to my point but apparently easier to ignore and reply with a quote, no harm no foul, as I wrote – its my two cents and according to Mr. Twain – It is by the goodness of God that in our country we have those three unspeakably precious things: freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, and the prudence never to practice either of them. Be well.

  2. Bill Banuchi says:

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets and stonest them that are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!–Luke 13:34

  3. Chip Murray says:

“That said, I never felt ‘we’ had the market on being a patriot given that a patriot (supporter of country) can be found on both sides of the aisle, and in a D, I, C & R home, we just come at it with a different lense & experience.” Once upon a time I went to Washington with a wonderful soul who chartered a bus for a busload of Americans who want to take their country back from the thieves who stole it from them. She even played the movie “Mr. Smith Goes To Washington” for the ride. What happened to this person? How did that wonderful soul become Middle-of-the-Road-Nancy? Asking for a Friend!

    • Lisa says:

You find me a ‘Middle of the road Nancy’ b/c I don’t believe everything is the sky is falling and conclude personal responsibility to be the core ingredient missing? Today, 2022, I would again hire a bus and play that movie b/c our country continues to be stolen by both sides of the aisle government and it’s a Patriots response and duty to do something about it. The difference I suppose is Fear or Faith…I have the latter. I do not ridicule people b/c they took the jab to keep their job, I understand it; I do not demean people b/c they come at things with a different point of view, (Nancy?), and I certainly tell my truth regardless of company – none of which makes me middle of the road. Not every mountain must be conquered – our collective fight must be purposeful and selected – and frankly, I am firmly, unwavering, planted with eyes wide open,… oh and my soul is just fine.
I suppose you and I are on different paths – and that’s just fine.
“And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love” 1 Corinthians 13:13

      • Chip Murray says:

“my truth”? “collective fight”? You changed…must be the line of work. You say latter, but I see you standing smack dab in the middle, right between Fear & Faith…biggest head-fake space of all, “SAFE”. Read your first post again. You weren’t trying to convince us…you were trying to convince yourself. Good luck with that sister!
