Dear Brothers & Sisters,
Shutupnsing which started in 2009 became Standupnsing last year when I realized that there is no mortal man or army coming to save us. That if it is to be, it is up to WE the People…and WE have been here before. Dutch Sheets brought us the message last week that WE are in a new season of miracles, so I’d like to share one I witnessed in 2010…
On July 3rd 2009 as I was putting our flag out that picture-perfect morning, God gave me the song Independence Day. It became track 5 of 15 on my 2nd CD Wide Awake, which we finished recording and released almost exactly one year later. Some of you may recognize the name Lisa Mei Crowley, the popular patriot blogger who was Lisa Mei Norton at the time. She hosted a patriotic web-site for Conservative/Patriot/Traditional singer-songwriters called BigDawg Music Mafia. She liked my music but she loved Independence Day and asked me if I had ever thought of making it a video. I said I hadn’t but loved the idea. She said she felt moved to make it.
A week or two later on the very morning of our CD-Release Party at Pennings Farm in Warwick, I am in front of my computer at 4 or 5am with my first cup of coffee, and there’s the “Independence Day” video waiting for me in my email in-box. Now you need to understand that the ONLY thing Lisa Mei knew about me was my name and my songs. She didn’t know anything else about my family, or my personal history. There’s a line in the song, “My cousin Rocky, I never knew, fell from the sky for me and you. Rice paddies are soft but they can’t break the fall, from the weight of freedom, heaviest of all.” Rocky was my mother’s sister’s son. I never met him. He was shot down on his second tour of duty on New Years Eve 1969 over Viet Nam. This verse comes up at the 1:28min mark in the song as the image of the Viet Nam Memorial Wall comes onto the screen panning left to right. My heart started pounding when I saw the name James R. Dean Jr. coming into view from lower left corner of the screen…
Now I only ever knew Rocky was Rocky. But I did know that his dad, my uncle, was James. So, after phone calls to Rocky’s brother my cousin Steve, and my mom, the miracle was confirmed. Out of 4,000,000 images of a wall with 58,000 names on it, Lisa Mei harvested the one that happened to have my cousin Rocky on it! You can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPJ-aX3-2aY
Jenny L made the following comment on yesterday’s SMTU, “I hope you enjoyed Pride Month.”
I responded, “I’ll be honest Jenny. It is hard watching the country you love reliving Isaiah 5 as a patriot. It is at the same time easy as a believer, trusting in the sword of the Spirit and the truth of His Word in Proverb 1:33.”
Friends, its going to take a miracle…and God’s mercy to save us from the judgment we deserve as a nation. But I believe Dutch is right…and I believe with all my heart that a solid majority of the American People are not who a very lost and twisted minority tell us we are. I meant to include “Especially Now” in yesterday’s Tune-up, but now realize it was meant for the here, and especially now…
Especially in the heat of day, when nothing seems to go my way…in the darkness of the night, when these feet of mine would turn to flight. When all around me is caving in, to the empty smile in the devil’s grin…Especially when the load to bear, becomes too much for my soul to care. In the endless hours of a lonely place, where heartache fills the empty space. When the race to run seems over and done…before the finish line.
Especially then, and this I know, because His Word has filled me so. In this moment when ALL seemed lost, He was before me all the time…for the Especially Now, this race is mine!

And this morning…He tells us what it will take:
Tenacity is more than endurance, it is endurance combined with the absolute certainty that what we are looking for is going to transpire. Tenacity is more than hanging on, which may be but the weakness of being too afraid to fall off. Tenacity is the supreme effort of a man refusing to believe that his hero is going to be conquered. The greatest fear a man has is not that he will be damned, but that Jesus Christ will be worsted, that the things He stood for—love and justice and forgiveness among men—will not win out in the end; the things He stands for look like will-o’-the-wisps. Then comes the call to spiritual tenacity, not to hang on and do nothing, but to work deliberately on the certainty that God is not going to be worsted.
If our hopes are being disappointed just now, it means that they are being purified. There is nothing noble the human mind has ever hoped for or dreamed of that will not be fulfilled. One of the greatest strains in life is the strain of waiting for God. “Because you have kept My command to preserve.” Remain spiritually tenacious. ~ Oswald Chambers, Spiritual Tenacity Psalm 46:10
“But he who listens to me shall live securely, And will be at ease from the dread of evil.” ~ Proverb 1:33
