The Sunday Morning Tune-up ~ “For Such A Time As This.”

I absolutely love the way God works! As my brother in Christ Pastor Mark who recommended the aforementioned read reminded me the other day, “Remember what God said: ‘For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.’ Isaiah 55:8”

I’m only thirteen chapters in, but a line that struck me was, Choices in time cannot be undone in eternity. I believe this is why He caused me to wake up to the above Titanic meme yesterday morning. I have come to realize the purpose He has chosen me…for such a time as this. For the past nine years I’ve walked two paths with equal commitment, love, and passion: the Christian path, and the patriot path. He was clearly telling me that the people on the Titanic, only moments before slipping below the icy waters, had more hope for salvation than those in California because, by God’s grace, they still had the light to see the Word of God!

But there’s far more…

What God has concealed from generations of American Christians (Bible), He has also concealed from American patriots (Constitution), and all other Americans if truth-be-told. Christendom and America have advanced from seed to growth to the maturity phase we are now living through. The signs of the Biblically prophesied end times are everywhere, and our Founders were pretty clear about what would happen to our great republic if we turned the reins of power over to godless and immoral men. To look at the clown show in DC and not see end times is to be blind.

On the other hand, Rōv makes the point in his book with the question, “Is there anything that God begins and does not end with a superior version of?”

Concealed and revealed to my Christian self is the buried treasure of the “Word of God” only found in all three verses of the 1611 version of the King James Bible, and to my American patriot self the buried treasure of “Interposition” found in the 1st Amendment of our United States Constitution…for such a time as this!

The Titanic is a very useful metaphor for another purpose to bring the seed analogy home. As Jesus taught us in John 12:24, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

Those of us with eyes to see know who the three men of power and influence were the forces of darkness needed to sink beneath the frigid North Atlantic waves in 2012, in order to raise the contraption from hell we know as the Federal Reserve in 2013. That, my friends, was the beginning of their end. Biblically speaking, Babylon…the rulers of the darkness of this world {Eph. 6:12}. Here in the flesh, the global cartel pulling the strings from London, to Brussels, Geneva, Rome, straight back to right here at home. I’m going to close with this…the most urgent plea I have ever made to my readers. PLEASE take 30 minutes today to watch this “warrior” man of God.

The Sunday Morning Tune-up ~ “Upon His Shoulder”

Game-Time Boys! When “Doc” is off the grid, something big is going down! Military-age males have been pouring across our southern border for months and are being strategically relocated across our country. And what are we American men doing about it? Great question! Well, let’s see…scratch the porn addicts, that’s one hell of a swath from all I’ve read. Scratch the Q crowd waiting for Trump to ride to the rescue on his white steed. Scratch the majority of Christian men in the modern church waiting to be raptured. And finally, scratch a good chunk of the Christian/Catholic/Jewish men in the pro-life community east of the Hudson “airing out the issues” for the past month. The issues? A Communist in papal garb blessing sodomite couples…and the proper way to address them. I KID YOU NOT!

It’s no accident or coincidence that Holy Spirit has led Orange Strong to kick of the 2024 Bible Study in Isaiah! Last week I wrote how the Bible is the only book that reads us while we are reading it. That was proven in me this week as I only yesterday reached Psalm 119 in my daily Psalm & Proverb a Day Drives the Tyrant away. You see, every day I read the entire chapter in both books, even though its one verse that day, yesterday being 119:4. Those of you who know your Bible know there are 176 verses in 119. There was a little voice inside my head that tried to tell me I could skip reading 175 verses and just print out 4 and be done with it. The He in me not only read 176, He savored every single word as a delicious morsel to a starving man deprived of food for days. Imagine the feast to come in Isaiah! Isaiah is telling us, especially we men, that by the authority of Jesus Christ we, by His grace, are about to reclaim and restore our government upon His shoulder!

God is raising up His Davids, Joshuas, and Calebs. Allow me to introduce you to a real David: Love what God loves. Hate what God hates. ~ Stephen Prouce. The Sunday Morning Tune-up ~ “Above all…”

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.~ Ephesians 6:16

I have read the above verse more than a thousand times just in the past three years alone, as it constitutes my preparation every morning each day along with Eph. 6:10-15, 17-20, and Psalm 91. But in the final days of 2023 something powerful and revealing emerged. The Word of God, the Sword of the Spirit {Eph. 6:17} had always reigned above all to my mind.

And in this same time… It wasn’t the shout that brought down the wall of Jericho, but the faith in the shout. ~ Dutch Sheets, Give Him 15, Persistent Faith

And it dawned on me just exactly what was missing in almost every pulpit in America. And, as a tragic consequence, almost every faith community as well. If this were not true, we would not have our children sexually and morally groomed away from their Creator, trafficked, tortured, and murdered for their blood (Adrenochrome), while the faith community holds its tongue.

And gentlemen, now-a-bed, Shall think themselves accurs’d they were not here, And hold their manhoods cheap…There are a lot of men across this nation that are asleep as their country hangs in the balance. If America falls, and I’m not suggesting it will, but if it does it will be because a majority of her sons were either nowhere to be found, or on the wrong damn side when she needed them the most. If she is saved, it is because we happy few didn’t allow her to fall. Spiritual warfare is spatial…breaking strongholds…I have lamented more than once that if you were to ask the faith community, “How many of you believe we are in a spiritual war?”, every hand would go up. But if you followed with, “How is your spiritual warfare training going?”, you might see a hand or two, but mostly deer in the headlights…if we’re being honest. I have put countless hours, resources, time, and energy for the past three years into a dream I had based on our Lord’s prayer in John 17:21…which manifested in C.L.O.T.H. (Christian Leaders Of The Hudson), only to come to realize this year, there is no leadership in the church. It is the one institution in America…besides the weatherman, where there is zero accountability. Some might argue accountability is missing in our government as well, but that would not be the case if we had spine, leadership, and true faith in our pulpits. Sadly, in a county of over 136 churches, I am able to count where this spine, leadership, and faith exists on one hand. God has blessed me to be a faithful and grateful member of one…

It’s been said that the Bible is the only book that reads us while we are reading It! So, think about this dear brothers in shepherd’s clothes who tailor their Sunday read to fit men’s ears; whilst, seeking the applause of men over the approval of God…to paraphrase our good shepherd: With our eyes clearly focused on the Lord and His Word, we must prepare ourselves to leave behind any spiritual “wilderness”, and to cross over by faith into God’s promised place of renewed trust, rest in His will, of victory over the forces of evil, and of “possessing” the “land” that He has given to us in Christ!  By faith and obedience to Him, we are to wage battle by the power of His Spirit against the forces of evil and of darkness!  Canaan Land is not a picture of heaven, but rather one of the Christian life, where there are enemies and battles, but victories in the Name of Jesus!  Will we choose faith, or fear?  Life, or death?  Man’s applause, or God’s approval?  Church as usual, or a fresh outpouring of God’s Spirit for victorious living and effective, soul-saving witness?  Do we want religious entertainment centers, or houses of genuine worship and powerful, enemy-defeating prayer?  What do we want to hear?  The unadulterated Gospel of Christ, “all the counsel of God” (Acts 20:27), or just some popular, “prosperity” message for cultural “believers” in a world of horrific spiritual and moral compromise?  ~ Pastor Steve Offringa, Howells Church

If you haven’t read Acts 19:13-16 lately or ever, I encourage you to do so, because without true faith in the Holy Spirit of the one true God, we are no better equipped than the vagabond pretenders when facing the enemy…which is why so many of my brothers and sisters in the faith community at large seek to avoid the enemy.

Without unflinching faith in Holy Spirit, we suffer a deadly lack of discernment which is on full display in a very large segment of the faith community that identifies as Catholic…

The faux pope ‘vicar’ representative…representative of Christ…any person foolish enough to believe Bergoglio (Francis) is a Representative of Christ…the Father, and Holy Ghost, can only be Biblically malnourished…You can’t indulge in pious pretense when you come to the atmosphere of the Bible. Which brings us to the bittersweet outpost known as Remnant…

But, Oh my brothers and sisters, what joyful company we keep, through trials and tribulations so deep, beyond all pain and sorrow, behold the bright tomorrow, when at last we’ve passed from can’t to can!

The Sunday Morning Tune-up ~ Ambassadors in Bonds vs False Shepherds & Slaves

My friends, C. S. Lewis had it SO right when he said, “One of the most cowardly things ordinary people do is shut their eyes to the facts.” I recently saw a “Beware of False Prophets” warning on FB, and the thought occurred to me that the warning comes too late…as it is the false prophets behind many if not most modern church pulpits who are most responsible for the truth that makes the meme above so powerful. The warning also struck me as a feeble attempt to paint the true fearless and bold Ambassadors in Bonds {Eph. 6:20} like Dietrich Bonhoeffer in the last century, or men like David Barton, Dutch Sheets, Rev. Paul Washer, Rev. Brad Cummings, Rev. Greg Locke and my friend and mentor Rev. Bill Banuchi today…in other words, men who are courageously opening themselves up to bear the stripes of Paul for daring to open ordinary people’s eyes to the truth! That is the very MO of the demonic in our culture…it projects itself onto the target of its attack. Look no further than the Clinton and Biden crime families in their meritless and feckless pursuit of President Trump to see my point. Which is how the beautiful American family pictured above, became the…

Americans today (who) have the “freedom” to be fleeced, groped, wiretapped, injected, censored, injected, ticketed, disarmed, beaten, vilified, detained, and maybe shot by government agents. Politicians are hell-bent on protecting citizens against everything except Uncle Sam. They use false dichotomy to present matters of life and death to the Body of Christ, as you say tomato and I say tomahto, you say potato, and I say potahto…

However, this little mind game relies on a certain false dichotomy. It requires that the population under attack continues to see the saboteurs as integral members of that society with the same freedoms and the same protections. I woke up to these words from a local Rabbi this morning after contrasting the Axis of Good in Reagan, Thatcher, and Pope John Paul in the great spiritual warfare of the last century, with their modern counterparts in the same war against the same evil today. “Yes, thinking about what you’ve observed about the big picture is truly chilling. We’re in an spiritual war, facing something approaching a perfect storm. On the other hand, if we can simply open eyes, we can accomplish much.”

Right as rain my friends! None of us will make it through the door God is about to open without the eyes to see! I shared with the Rabbi my dream/fantasy New Year’s Resolution for 2024 being Proverbs 1:1-33, which would lead us back to who God made us to be as pictured in the meme above…and this place Jonathan Cahn challenged us to in his call to Acts 2.0:

And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat (no bugs) with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. ~ Acts 2:46-47

Which finally brings us to a dream I had this week…  

The 34 trillion-dollar question: Who among us will possess the understanding, faith, and courage to see and walk through the door He has opened for us? In the very early hours of Thursday morning, He gave me a powerful dream in which I was taken prisoner with others by the Nazis during WW ll.  We were all being brutally tortured in a very large room with a number of guards present. I was being tortured by Hitler himself, who was preparing to castrate me, when I noticed the guards were relaxed and distracted giving me the perfect opportunity. I managed to strangle Hitler before he could yell, escaped…and woke up. Call me crazy…but I believe it was a clear message from God. And later the same morning in my devotion time, I read two scripture passages that confirmed we are at that door! The very last chapter of Ezra where Ezra, after his prayer and confession, exhorts the men of Israel to make their own confessions, separate themselves from the people of the land (of their captivity) and from the strange wives {Ezra 10:11}. Think about that. And then moments later as part of my daily Psalm and Proverb a Day…Proverbs 1:1-33 struck me as, not only the perfect New Year’s Resolution, but the perfect resolution and commitment for the New Earth that awaits us on the other side of the door.  ~ MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERY ONE!

The Sunday Morning Tune-up ~ Finishing What We Started

A fascinating counterbalance in two stories about a divided America under attack from the enemy within this week…

Last week’s Tune-up was an ode to the Proverbs 21:16 men in our country who have wandered from the path of understanding to lead themselves, their families, and their churches to remain in the congregation of the dead.  The five foolish virgins in Matthew 25 lacked the fuel for the light they needed when they needed it most…

The opening Leviticus 10 verses above are from Thursday’s Maxwell’s Leadership Promises for Every Day, The Importance of Starting Well. This week’s INVITE to Prayer & Fast Wednesday opened with: Dear Church, How long will you remain silent and indifferent in the face of an encroaching evil, the scope of which is nearly beyond comprehension…aided and abetted by immoral and corrupt liars and thieves at every level of our government who have abandoned their oath, and turned their backs on the public they were elected to serve, to serve their own interests and the father of lies? 

Last night we attended a dinner in Queens that featured a talk by Tricia S. Lindsay, Esq. The title of Tricia’s message; Armed & Dangerous rhymed beautifully with Doc Chambers’ message from the week before: Be kind, loving and compassionate. But when you need to be… be capable of complete danger. ~ Doc

Tricia, a Constitutional attorney, and tireless freedom-fighting patriot who has always put God first in a life of accomplishment that is well beyond remarkable, received the most touching tribute from both her daughter and her mother at the end of a beautiful evening. The love in the room was palpable. That’s when it struck me. We had just heard from a woman with the heart and soul of a 1st Century Disciple speaking from the front line of the greatest battle against absolute tyranny and despotism the world has ever known…on the need to be armed and dangerous.

She’s not talking about armed with guns, she’s talking about armed with knowledge, and dangerous to our enemies by the power and strength of our deep and abiding faith in our Creator!

It is the trial of our faith that makes us wealthy in God’s sight…Stand true to the life hid with Christ in God and to the facts you have to face. You will have no answer intellectually, but your faith in God will be so unshakably firm that others will begin to see there is an answer they have never guessed. ~ Oswald Chambers, Faith in God’s Reign

The Importance of Starting Well…Dear friend, do you realize there has never been a story in the life of nations more powerful than the American Story on the importance of starting well. That is because the very foundation of our start was rooted in the richly nutritional soil of Leviticus 10. A start totally lost on the Fairfax pervert and cherished by the Navy Test Pilot in Des Moines. Which brings us to the question of the ending of our story and, most importantly, the part you and I are to play in finishing what we started.

For which I am an ambassador in bonds:  that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak…As Paul to the Ephesians chapter 6, verse 20. Amen?

The question at the very heart: Are we ambassadors of the one Holy Spirit, or the spirits of the world? Pontius Pilate could find no fault {Luke 23:4}…

When we draw nearer to God {James 4:8}, we attain the blessings of God drawing nearer to us, which include our ability to see the other spirit(s) within ourselves, which we are then able to prayerfully confront, resist, and watch it/them flee {James 4:7}. It/they cannot bear to be seen in the light of Truth.

During the course of her presentation last evening, Tricia laid out the plan of the wicked hearts in Albany to eliminate parental rights of all New Yorkers through a bill deceptively titled the ERA (Equal Rights Amendment) illegally and un-Constitutionally adapted by the one-party gang of liars and thieves who plan to have it on the ballot for next year’s Presidential Election.

What these tyrants are banking on is that there are not enough of us who have not wandered from the path of understanding, who both understand and keep the law through which God Himself has granted us the absolute power and authority we need to hold them accountable, and who will most certainly contend with them by any and all means necessary…to finish what we started.

The Sunday Morning Tune-up ~ “The Congregation of the Dead”

As the world turns, the No Way Out polaroid continues to develop…until the Babylonian Magic-Music stops. Which means there is still time for the man who wandered out of the way of understanding to change course from his comfort cruise on the Denial River back into understanding the truth of his own trappings…

Imagine living your entire life believing yourself to be something your entire cloister, falsely shepherded out of the way of understanding, led you to believe…only to hear the words “I never knew you” at the end of the race. Proverbs 21:16 hit me like a sledgehammer this week. God is connecting the dots…

The congregation of the dead…of course the sister was offended by my nursing home analogy I referenced in last week’s tune-up. But that was exactly what God showed me, and it wasn’t about age. As Chambers knew, Spiritually we never grow old; through the passing of things we grow so many years young. The characteristic of the spiritual life is its unaging youth, exactly the opposite of the natural life. Revival needs to start with the church because I would argue that the church is the deadest of all our institutions, filled with those waiting to die rather than those really living to join Paul at the 2 Timothy 4:7 finish line! 

ALL because we’ve been led out of the way of understanding who we are, where we came from, and where we are meant to go…

The purpose of the scriptures is to edify us spiritually so that we can understand what those scriptures mean. As I look at the scriptures…the scriptures help our understanding of the laws of God. Brothers and sisters, if we could wander out of the way then with God’s blessings, we can wander our way back! Amen? This is the preamble to our own Constitution of the State of New York:

God gave us EVERYTHING we need in our Declaration and Constitution to reclaim our Republic!

The Sunday Morning Tune-up ~ “We’ve Got Nothing To Bring To The Table”

Two years ago, one of the better pastors in our area stated before a group of us that his greatest concern was preparing the members of his church for what was coming. Just the other day I came across my notes from that meeting. On that very same day I hear this interview (beginning at the 9:30min mark)…

That’s why we have to prepare ourselves. I believe there has to be a spiritual preparation…a place of holiness, where we fast, we pray, we intercede, and we connect with the Holy Spirit. …and again, on the same day a member of a nearby church I called out for the pastor’s silence in the face of evil responded with the words, “We’ve got nothing to bring to the table.” And I think to myself, there are no words to describe the absolute unpreparedness for what is coming. I was thinking about a conversation I had with a fellow CLOTH member, a lovely sister from the better pastor’s church who called me to the carpet for having said in a private conversation with her that during my recent visit to another church in our area, “I was waiting to hear someone shout BINGO”! Boy, did she let me have it. “Words matter!”, she admonished me. She is absolutely right, words really do matter. But, we need to examine the heart and intention behind the words, no? The heart and intention behind my words shared privately was that my experience felt more like a visit to a nursing home than a church. I cannot speak to the heart and intention behind, “We’ve got nothing to bring to the table,” other than the self-fulfilling fact that this person will more than likely bring nothing to the table. Any life coach will tell you, we become what we think and what we tell ourselves.

I pray you will take ten minutes to listen to the Michael Knowles interview linked above. I know Michael. I had the pleasure of working with him on a political campaign fourteen years ago. To see him working to shed light on an evil that has been so extremely well concealed for most of our lives does my heart good. He has a massive following! The spiritual potency and virile nature of the principalities, powers, and rulers behind the occult practitioners, and their heart and intention for God’s children is not only VERY real, but when you consider this threat in contrast to the utter impotency behind, “we’ve got nothing to bring to the table,” you can actually see the wolf savoring the meal to come. She did not come up with the thought behind those words on her own my friends. She had help…from the pulpit!

For we are not like many, peddling the word of God, but as from sincerity, but as from God, we speak in Christ in the sight of God. ~ 2 Corinthians 2:17

No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. ~ 2 Corinthians 11:14

I was good with Dutch Sheets’ use of the word “disabled” in describing our church pulpits. I myself came up with dysfunctional. But a brother in Christ from Loudoun County, Virginia insisted in a conversation yesterday that it is much darker than that, and he shared both of the 2 Corinthians passages with me. I have to say, in light of the Herculean efforts of authors like Eric Metaxas, and godly men like Dutch Sheets to wake what I thought to be a sleeping church, I believe my brother is dead on! Which brings us to the soldier-like training mentioned by the witchcraft and spiritual warfare expert in the Knowles interview, and the significance of Ephesians 6:17. I love this scripture because it captures the spiritual warfare essence of both offense and defense in just 18 words. The helmet of salvation is there for us to protect our minds from thinking “we’ve got nothing to bring to the table.” And the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Not some of the Word, not most of the word, but EVERY word. If you are being so nourished in your church then know you are blessed, but if you are not being prepared for holiness, led to pray, fast, intercede, connect with the Holy Spirit, and receive soldier-like training in breaking curses and deliverance, don’t be afraid to ask your pastor why not? Especially in this hour…why not? Most importantly brothers and sisters, know for a fact, as sons and daughters of the King Most High, we bring EVERYTHING to the table! Amen?

The Sunday Morning Tune-up ~ The Strength & Power of True Love

True Love!

Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God? ~ Acts 11:17

In the period of a week, I have two sisters in Christ who have experienced un-natural horror that none of us, let alone those of the Body of Christ, should ever have to experience. The 30-year-old niece of one died of an overdose. And the pre-teen niece of the other attempted suicide. Malnutrition, the root cause in both cases. We have become a people who have condemned our own children to death by spiritual starvation…from the lack of True Love.

Enter in by the Door ~ Discernment is the power to interpret what we see and hear. (Perfect)

God gave me a powerful message on the strength and power of the kind of true love found in uncompromising churches with the conviction of Acts 11 Peter, as dead to the world as Galatians 2 Paul, and of course, John 10 Jesus, Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.

Too colossal for any mortal man to face…without the true love gift of the Spirit that provided all the strength and power Peter, Paul, Pastor Rick, and, of course, Jesus needed. As Maxwell shared in yesterday’s devotional, Believe In Yourself, True Love begets Strength begets Power begets Confidence…

High level military leaders had ordered the tank commander to open fire and kill Yeltsin. The Sunday Morning Tune-up ~ Inside the Harbor

Seems like oceans of tears I’ve been crying for you to wake up from this dream…

If you believe in Jesus you will not spend all your time in the smooth waters just inside the harbor, full of exhilaration and delight, but always moored; you will have to go out through the harbor bar into the great deeps of God and begin to know for yourself, begin to get spiritual discernment…Why not unloosen and launch all on God and go out on the great swelling tide of His purpose? “If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know…” When you know you should do a thing and you do it, immediately you will know more…it is a dangerous thing to refuse to go on knowing. When my friends were heading off to college, I was hitchhiking to California. When they were pursuing degrees, I was drawn to the great deeps. While they were focused on careers, I was “searching for answers to make my questions few.” We know in tragic hindsight that university classrooms were the shallow end of the pool of life, preparing a generation for the national lobotomy of corporate and cultural compliance. I knew I should do a thing long before I truly believed. That’s because His voice was drawing me out of the shallows long before I realized, came to believe, and was finally saved. But unfortunately for the generation trapped in the shallow end, His voice became drowned out by the glam and glitter of a thousand shallow voices…voices incapable of reaching the great deeps. For them the need to follow replaced their need to know. This is how the enemy was so easily able to lure the vast majority of us into its climate change, Covid 19, Transgender insanity, and death jab nets!

My Psalm-a-day read Friday morning led me to the KJV introduction to Psalm 77, “The psalmist’s fierce combat with diffidence.” Well, well, well! Diffidence (I had to look it up)~ modesty or shyness resulting from a lack of self-confidence…the quality or state of being unassertive or bashful…the quality of being shy and not confident of your abilities.

Imagine…the Psalmist in fierce combat with the timid! Of course he is…Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known. ~ Psalm 77:19 I don’t know how else to say this. God is not going to come into the shallows to rescue us. He already did that two thousand years ago! But, He has given us EVERYTHING we need to BELIEVE, leave the smooth waters of our inner harbor, and swim out to Him. Thy way is in the sea…

Think about the worst inside the harbor post-category 5 storm photographs you have ever seen. The once majestic fleet of yachts and pleasure craft are barely recognizable tangles of wood and fiberglass. The only nautical survivors? Those that headed out to sea. Yesterday’s Maxwell: Find Clarity, Not Certainty. I’m going to go out on a limb here to break Maxwell’s rule to provide both. The storm that’s about to make landfall in every single one of our lives will make the worst category 5 storms of the past seem like a gentle breeze…to those who refused to go on knowing.

The old earth is about to give way underneath your feet. NOW would be a good time to prepare yourself and your family for the New Earth!

I’m gonna get up every morning to lose what I must win, and find another way of living that feels good within my skin. The Sunday Morning Tune-up ~ How Do You Handle A Hungry Wolf?

Savoring the meal to come…

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. ~ James 4:7

Submit…Resist…there is no better testimony of submission in the entire Bible than the one Paul modeled in his message to the Galatians 2:19-20; For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. That brings us to Resist…

There is no better model of resistance in the entire Bible than we find in the temptation of Christ at the very beginning of His ministry {St. Mat. 4:1-11}. Realize that Jesus was led to place Himself in the absolute most vulnerable and weakened state to resist the three great temptations of the devil…with only the Word, Sword of the Spirit {Eph. 6:17}!

Now, if we take a closer look at the relationship between our #1 submission model (Paul), and our #1 resistance model (Jesus), we find the answer to today’s Tune-up question, How Do You Handle A Hungry Wolf? Before Paul’s (formerly Saul of Tarsus) submission to Christ he was one of the most zealous and widely respected Pharisees of all Pharisees. He led the persecution of the early Christians. He gleefully cheered on the stoning to death of Stephen, the first Christian martyr. He believed he was doing God’s work through the law UNTIL his road to Damascus conversion, when he became dead to the law.

How many of us have lived successful lives by and through the law, building our stature and prestige, and earning the regard and respect of our peers, our families, our friends…our community? Every ounce of it a fairytale LIE. Not some of it. Not part of it. ALL of it! One enormously spectacular web of lies spun by the father of lies himself. You see, most people invested in a lie will refuse the truth…even cops when you show them the evidence will take the easy way out until that fateful day which will come to us all when there is no way out. Trust me when I tell you, having done my time on the pretender side, there are many pretenders who see themselves as contenders. Power of the head-fake…not the place to be when the music stops. Did you ever stop to wonder why Jesus chose Paul over the eleven who had followed him for most of his three-year ministry? I would say, in a word, ZEAL. Jesus knew the man on fire for the law, would be even more so for the truth…once convicted! Which brings us to our resistance.

Jesus knew He was sending us out as sheep among wolves {St. Mat. 10:16}. But He also knew He was equipping us in such a way as to make us invincible against the principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places {Eph. 6:12}. What did Jesus teach us in the very beginning of His ministry about how to handle a hungry wolf? Refuse to feed him! Amen? Satan attempted and failed to bait Him three times from man’s perspective…of the flesh. What Satan conquers through pride, Jesus defeated through pure humility. After 40 days of fasting, He had literally emptied Himself of himself.

Our resistance model did not sit back and wait for the wolf to come to Him. He went straight on offense and took it to the enemy as the very first act of His ministry! The modern church has allowed the enemy to make it Eloi…weak, irrelevant, impotent…helplessly hoping!
