The Rising Tide of Insanity

A Living Hell

A Living Hell

“We don’t have time for a meeting of the flat earth society.” ~ Barack Hussein Obama

Yesterday the world went from crazy to insane in two fell swoops. One on this side of the Atlantic with the ruling from the Supreme Court, and one from the British Secretary of State on the other side of the pond!

342 members of the House and 85 members of the Senate voted for and President Clinton signed the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in 1996 in a crystal clear reflection of the will of the American people. Yesterday the Supreme Court of the United States thumbed its nose at Congress, the “office” of the President and delivered a middle finger salute to the American people! One might ask what overcame the mind of man in a mere 17 years that never occurred to him in the thousands of years previous! Of course, one would need his own mind to do the wondering…

And from the land that gave us the Magna Carta, we learn that Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer of Atlas Shrugged have just been banned, not allowed…personas non grata! Their transgression? They violated UK Unacceptable Behavior Policy by speaking out against the Jihadists who are murdering and slaughtering innocents from Boston to Woolwich and Nigeria, while they welcome and protect the Muhammad al-Arifi’s who incite and inspire the Jihadist lust for blood!

I’ve often wondered how is it that the most musically gifted and artistically talented among us are often the most politically blind, deaf and dumb among us. But I have to imagine that even Sir Paul “Helter Skelter” McCartney, Bruce “Bad Lands” Springsteen and Steven “Schindler’s List” Spielberg have to be a little fidgety by now! The 1993 epic Schindler’s List contained the most insane moment I’ve ever seen. It was the scene where the Nazi officer calmly pulled out his pistol and executed a woman who questioned him on a busy train platform with people walking by as if nothing out of the ordinary had just occurred…no shock, no awe, no anger…only acceptance.

The land of edelweiss did not evolve into the police state of Nazi Germany overnight. It developed through many long nights and many slow passing days of incremental submissions and surrenders here and there…until one day, all any of them could do was observe and pretend that none of it was happening. How’s that for a fairly accurate description of a living hell?

At a time when the American people are treated to routine condescension by the exact same charm that fooled the world some seventy-odd years ago, these words hold up better than any I’ve ever read. May God bless them as they were the beacon of a lighthouse to keep us from the rocks we seem otherwise determined to throw ourselves onto:

To stand up for truth is nothing. For truth, you must sit in jail. You can resolve to live your life with integrity. Let your credo be this: Let the lie come into the world, let it even triumph. But not through me.

The simple step of a courageous individual is not to take part in the lie. One word of truth outweighs the world.

In keeping silent about evil, in burying it so deep within us that no sign of it appears on the surface, we are implanting it, and it will rise up a thousand fold in the future. When we neither punish nor reproach evildoers, we are not simply protecting their trivial old age, we are thereby ripping the foundations of justice from beneath new generations.

If I were asked today to formulate as concisely as possible what was the main cause of the ruinous revolution that swallowed up some 60 million of our people, I could not put it more accurately than to repeat: ‘Men had forgotten God; that is why all this has happened.’

A decline in courage may be the most striking feature that an outside observer notices in the West today. The Western world has lost its civic courage . . . . Such a decline in courage is particularly noticeable among the ruling and intellectual elite, causing an impression of a loss of courage by the entire society.

And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?… The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If…if…We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation…. We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward. ~Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn by way of Ann Barnhardt!
