"Speaking Truth to Power"

“Speaking Truth to Power”

“No army can withstand the strength of an idea whose time has come.”           ~ Victor Hugo

We are suffering a plague of dishonest men from the top down. The problem for liars is twofold. First, lies beget more lies. Second, the liar has to remember where he put them all! Truth, on the other hand, is right in front of us all the while! This sounds simple, obvious, logical and straightforward…but it’s not, when the liars are in power. When the liars are in power and in control of the public narrative, speaking truth to power requires more courage than you can imagine. A fellow by the name of John Lennon made himself the enemy of the State during the Nixon years for doing just that.

I read Michael Goodwin’s “America Is Due For A Revolution,” last week and thought he’s absolutely right about the inevitable conflict, but he’s missing the true nature and essence of what is coming our way. Interestingly, Goodwin’s subject James Piereson and Lennon reached the same conclusion 43 years apart, as Goodwin writes, “Piereson captures and explains the alienation arising from the sense that something important in American life is ending, but that nothing better has emerged to replace it.Good Sunday Morning Dear Friend…

Revolution of the Heart in a Spiritual War

The “show business,” which is so incorporated into our view of Christian work today, has caused us to drift far from our Lord’s conception of discipleship. It is instilled in us to think that we have to do exceptional things for God; we have not. We have to be exceptional in ordinary things, to be holy in mean streets, among mean people, surrounded by sordid sinners. That is not learned in five minutes. ~ Oswald Chambers “Walking on Dry Land”

I wrote to someone I care for deeply, “The wool has been pulled over your eyes and mine…when it’s lifted, we will see the same.” This person replied, “Not sure if I’m totally in agreement, but I guess we’ll find out haha.” Such is the wall of skepticism, doubt and distrust that has been placed between us; separating fathers, sons, brothers, sisters, mothers, daughters and friends from each other; when we are all born as one in the eyes of God.

As Dr. Krauthammer put it just last week, “We are living in an age where what you say and its relation with facts is completely irrelevant.” Government officials appearing before congressional committees are liars lying to liars under oaths no one takes seriously, covered by a media nobody trusts…except for those who foolishly believe the liars in power have their best interests at heart. American Society has become like the top soil of the Mid-Western High Plains in the 1930’s. We are transforming ourselves from a rich, fertile and cohesive ecosystem full of life held together by our natural roots, into a disastrous and deadly dust bowl at the hands of self-serving opportunists who capitalize on the dreams of many, promise hope & change, uproot the natural order, only to deliver dust particles…again and again and again.

John Lennon was no saint, but he saw the very same establishment monster pulling the very same wool then they are pulling now! And we are every bit as blind to it now as we were then! “You gotta remember, establishment, it’s just a name for evil. The monster doesn’t care whether it kills all the students or whether there’s a revolution. It’s not thinking logically, it’s out of control.” ~ John Lennon (1969)

Nixon’s pursuit of Lennon was relentless and in large part based on the misperception that Lennon and his comrades were planning to disrupt the 1972 Republican National Convention. The government’s paranoia, however, was misplaced.

Left-wing activists who were on government watch lists and who shared an interest in bringing down the Nixon Administration had been congregating at Lennon’s New York apartment. But when they revealed that they were planning to cause a riot, Lennon balked. As he recounted in a 1980 interview, “We said, We ain’t buying this. We’re not going to draw children into a situation to create violence so you can overthrow what? And replace it with what? . . . It was all based on this illusion, that you can create violence and overthrow what is, and get communism or get some right-wing lunatic or a left-wing lunatic. They’re all lunatics.” ~ “Neutralizing John Lennon: One Man Against The Monster”

And so we see, What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun…”

Yes we are due for revolution as Goodwin predicts, but not you against me, me against you, or us against the world. We are not called to be exceptional in the extraordinary. We are called to be exceptional in the ordinary. We are called to speak truth to power. We are called to pull the wool back my friend. And if you see something different in me than I see in you, then you are not looking! This is the war behind all wars. This is the war that transcends bullets and bombs, where beneath the layers upon layers of Liars’ Dust, we need to find ourselves before its too late.

To change liars in power is very hard. We must persist in our efforts to right the great wrongs of socialists. Those in power today seem to have a far reaching effect in preventing a change for the better. I can only say to those who may have lost heart, do not give up. God will reward those who fight for His will. Since we are a Christian nation, our destiny will be saved by perseverance and believing in the will of God. Make no mistake though, we must run for office and fight those who are only about themselves. Liars are like roaches, once you shine light on them they scurry for cover. We must crush them before they reach they hiding places so they can never return to darken the halls of government again. No small task, but we can do it! Liars just suck…
