The Sunday Morning Tune-up ~ Standing in the Light of Love

The Light

Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up on a high mountain apart by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. His clothes became shining, exceedingly white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth can whiten them. ~ Mark 9:2,3

This past week, one of my best friends found his only son OD’d while another high school friend’s only daughter attempted suicide. And, I was only just having a conversation with a church mom about how ill-prepared and ill-equipped our kids are. These three events triggered my recollection of an event from a couple of years earlier. I had just started attending a monthly prayer breakfast at a local diner…this was my first meeting. There was a woman in our group of twelve Christians who spoke Christian with a “Progressive” accent. She never came to another meeting. I never gave it another thought…until now. “Progressive” love cannot co-exist with Christian love, because the former is not love at all. It is the lie that stole love’s clothes…kind of like the Prince and the Pauper. I believe this truth is at the very heart of the civil war we are witnessing within the United Methodist Church at this very moment in time.

The roots of our subversion are “Progressive” and run deeper than you could possibly imagine. Our children’s struggle for truth is ten times harder than an asthma victim fighting for breath. In poor Zendrah’s case, it’s not asthma choking her lungs…it’s her teachers (Rabbis) who have cut off the vital oxygen of truth to her brain. Read the 8-yr-old’s Stop Hate Essay Contest award-winning essay here. Subversion is the powerful root poison that transforms the truthful danger of invasion into the insane response of compassion in the mind of our 8-yr-old…while causing her to see her true savior as the villain. Subversion is the powerful root poison that generates more fear of the easily curable measles that have killed (?) since 9/11, than fear of the Muslims who have slaughtered tens of hundreds of thousands…with no cure in sight! What the Composer Mahler referred to as the “sentimentalism which leads to the gas chambers” is everywhere. “We are saturated”, I wrote to a fellow TCT commenter…which made me think of the Mark 9 story of the frustrated Disciples who had been unable to cast out the demon from the boy.

So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.” ~ Mark 9:29

The Liar in Love’s clothing offers aid, comfort, and absolution to the Gay/Transgender ; not for love of the Gay/Transgender, but for hate of the Cross…and those of us who dare to love and obey Him.

I am forgotten like a dead man, out of mind;                                                                  I am like a broken vessel.                                                                                                    For I hear the slander of many;                                                                                    Fear is on every side;                                                                                                      While they take counsel together against me,                                                        They scheme to take away my life.                                                                                But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord;                                                                                  I say, “You are my God.” ~ Psalm 31:12-14

Peter, James, and John were standing in the light of the greatest Truth (Love) ever assembled in one place at one time in Jesus, Moses, and Elijah…and were told to tell no one. The devil has done his level best to hide it from everyone ever since. The deck has been stacked against us for so long now we’ve nearly forgotten what it’s like to be true. Except that we know it when we see and hear it.  Ravi Zacharias gives the best 5-minute explanation of Truth I have ever seen and heard here. You may not be able to view this video if you are not on Facebook, in which case I encourage you to Google or Youtube to find him.

I was also able to see and hear it in the Kentucky Governor’s response to “How do you reconcile your love for children with your (support of 2nd Amendment)?” Here. Could this be why certain voices are being banned from social media platforms for being “dangerous”?

Finally, the devil’s best trick was to put very smart people with lots of letters after their names on his own mountain top. I leave you with the light transcribed by the “illiterate laywoman” Catherine of Siena…as only Ann can deliver them:

“Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.”

Yes, Ma’am.

“Start being brave about everything. Drive out darkness and spread light. Don’t look at your weaknesses. Realize instead that in Christ crucified you can do everything.”

Yes, Ma’am.

“You are rewarded not according to your work or your time but according to the measure of your love.”

Yes, Ma’am.

He will provide the way and the means, such as you could never have imagined. Leave it all to Him, let go of yourself, lose yourself on the Cross, and you will find yourself entirely.

Yes, Ma’am.

Preach the Truth as if you had a million voices. It is silence that kills the world.

Yes, Ma’am.

A soul cannot live without loving. It must have something to love, for it was created to love.

Yes, Ma’am.

It is only through shadows that one comes to know the light.

Yes, Ma’am.

To the servant of God… every place is the right place, and every time is the right time.

Yes, Ma’am.

Nothing great is ever achieved without much enduring.

Yes, Ma’am.

We are of such value to God that He came to live among us… and to guide us home. He will go to any length to seek us, even to being lifted high upon the cross to draw us back to Himself. We can only respond by loving God for His love.

Yes, Ma’am.

We’ve had enough of exhortations to be silent! Cry out with a hundred thousand tongues. I see that the world is rotten because of silence.

Yes, Ma’am.

Strange that so much suffering is caused because of the misunderstandings of God’s true nature. God’s heart is more gentle than the Virgin’s first kiss upon the Christ. And God’s forgiveness to all, to any thought or act, is more certain than our own being.

Yes, Ma’am.

You must believe in truth that whatever God gives or permits is for your salvation.

Yes, Ma’am.

Do not be satisfied with little things, because God wants great things!

Yes, Ma’am.

And of what should we be afraid? Our captain on this battlefield is Christ Jesus. We have discovered what we have to do. Christ has bound our enemies for us and weakened them that they cannot overcome us unless we so choose to let them. So we must fight courageously and mark ourselves with the sign of the most Holy Cross.

Yes, Ma’am.

Enrich your soul in the great goodness of God: The Father is your table, the Son is your food, and the Holy Spirit waits on you and then makes His dwelling in you.

Yes, Ma’am.

Proclaim the truth and do not be silent through fear.

Yes, Ma’am.

The devil fears hearts on fire with love of God.

Yes, Ma’am.

Of course you are unworthy. But when do you hope to be worthy? You will be no more worthy at the end than at the beginning. God alone is worthy of Himself, He alone can make us worthy of Him.

Yes, Ma’am.

The questions and the answers to life this morning right here in shutupnsing. This is one that I will print and put in my handbag. Does anyone else do that with Chips posts? You should. 🎶I get by with a little help from my friends 🎵. Thanks.

  2. Bill Banuchi says:

Truth has a Name–Jesus. Because He was the only one to ever have prophesied his own death and resurrection and actually did it (as a fact of world history) everything else He said is affirmed to be true. Study truth–study Jesus. He is the personification of love, for God is love.

  3. Thank you for sharing. I’m here in Israel right now, with the gospel accountings coming alive at every turn. Yesterday I spread the ashes of my precious husband John English (a fellow blogger & admirer of yours) , on the Sea of Galilee.

Keep preaching, brother, spreading truth & challenging all of us to come up higher.

What a wonderful experience Sharon. Thank you so much for sharing that. I was there in 2010, stayed on a horse ranch in the Golan…swam in the Sea of Galilee…walked where Jesus walked and saw what Jesus saw. A wonderful sense of the bliss we will all experience with John one day. God Bless you my friend.
