The Sunday Morning Tune-up ~ Tenderly Calling

Home, Come on Home. Ye who are weary come Home…

For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things to put to shame the things which are mighty; ~ 1 Corinthians 1:26-27

God has blessed me to sing on a praise team in my church. I’ve played guitar and sang most of my life. Songwriting, I now realize since my James 4:8 moment seven years ago, was one of the ways I learned to listen to God. And while singing and playing to audiences of people is great, singing to Him and helping to spark the praise spirit simply cannot be topped. That, and being blessed to be part of a church family pastored by an uncompromising shepherd who is 100% ALL-in with the Word, the whole Word, and nothing but the Word of God.

This week He put on my heart a song that I believe was written by John Denver, I had previously been unaware of. But it spoke to me in a profound way because of what so many people are going through right now. From losing our parents in nursing homes over the past two years, to losing life-long friends, and worse…our children in the culture war today. The song “Tenderly Calling” is linked HERE. We could stop the insanity in a New York minute! All we need to do is “come on home”…to Him. Think Prodigal Son.

But the 1 Corinthians passage above and its link to Tenderly Calling goes much deeper. For you see your callingMen….He is speaking to us men in this hour. The following Scott Kesterson interview with Dr. Frank provides us with the truth about the corruption of our local, state, and federal election systems. Next up, Tucker Carlson exposes the corruption in Washington, DC as it relates to Ukraine…with George W. Bush comparing President Zelensky to George Washington. And finally, in my favorite what’s-going-on-in-the-world daily C&C, Jeff covers the refreshing and corruption-revealing fountain of truth flowing out of Twitter, “The only rational conclusion can be that the FBI is no longer a law-enforcement agency. It’s a political secret police force that covers for pedophiles.” ~ C&C News

Corruption, Corruption, Corruption! As Dr. Frank put it in his interview with Scott, “A mountain of corruption survives in a sea of incompetence.” And what is missing in such a slimy sea? Your integrity is one of the best friends your friends will ever have. ~ John C. Maxwell, Your Friends’ Best Friend

Or, to put it another way, when good men walk away fools rush in. Well brothers, God is calling us back to the table! The good news is that there are 15-20 pastors from the Liberty breakfast yesterday hearing Him loud and clear! Only the Holy Spirit can open hearts that have been closed for so long…

My morning Oswald Chambers read has had me in the Book of Job all week…

It is dangerous to be conscious of submission to a spiritual power. The difference between fatalism and faith lies just here. Fatalism means, “My number’s up; I have to bow to the power whether I like it or not; I do not know the character of the power, but it is greater than I am, and I must submit.” The submission of faith is that I do know the character of the Power, and this was the line that Job took: “Though He slay me, yet I will trust the fact that His character is worthy.” ~ Oswald Chambers, The Worthiness of God

If it is to be, it is up to we…led by He. Amen?

I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. ~ 1 Corinthians 3:6

Don’t be afraid of the darkness, don’t run away from the storm. Stand up and face your reflection, and feelings you try to ignore. ‘Cause after the tempest is over, and you let yourself go on through. You’ll hear a voice in the silence, and its tenderly calling to you… Tenderly Calling
