We are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. ~ 2 Corinthians 5:20

The Apostle says that we are ambassadors of God, representing Christ, the messiah king, the regent of that last kingdom. When the British ambassador is in the British Embassy in Berlin, he is not subject to the laws of the German Reich. The grounds of the embassy are inviolable. In the residence of the ambassador, only the laws of the country he represents are valid.

We are ambassadors of the kingdom of God. This means that we do nothing at all except what the king of God’s kingdom would himself do for his kingdom. When we take this service upon ourselves we enter into mortal danger. ~ Eberhard Arnold, Founder of the Bruderhof Christian Community

Good morning Dear Friend! A wonderfully passionate woman named Alicia called my attention to a crucial point which I missed in my summary of the Michael Voris lecture in last weeks Tune-up. This point comes together perfectly with a warning from Eberhard Arnold some 75 years ago…that is every bit as pertinent to Americans today as it was to Germans in the 1930’s!

Pray the Faith ~ Know the Faith ~ Act the Faith!

Alicia was right. I gave you a pretty accurate accounting of Michael’s take on what has been stolen from us (Our Republic) and how it happened. What I failed to mention was his response to the question “What do we do now?”

As in any relationship, our relationship with God is what we make it. If I say I want to be your friend, but other than showing up at your house every week to make my obligatory visit, I always seem to have things that come before you and there always seems to be other people I’d rather spend my time with…our friendship would wither on the vine, would it not? So the first question we have to ask ourselves is do we treat God as if he is a dear friend…or as more of an acquaintance?

This is where it gets a little tricky. I believe there are people who go through all the ceremonial gestures of friendship without committing to it in their heart. On the other hand, I believe there are those of us much more stoic on the surface yet hold the sacred flame of friendship where it matters most! In any case, I am writing these words in the hope that you believe in God and either feel fulfilled in that relationship or seek fulfillment.

Prayer is much like any other correspondence. What enriches a relationship more; the frequent and spontaneous letters or those that come only when we are in need of something? And what does it say to send and receive a beautifully written message on nice stationary as opposed to hastily scribbled note from a legal pad. If you wanna touch the sky, you better learn how to kneel…on your knees boy! I thank my friend David for reconnecting me to the proper way to pray…as only a Brit can! 🙂

Knowing the Faith is the paradoxical heart of the matter. On the physical level faith is required because we don’t know. And because God is beyond knowing, faith is required to get us there. People of all faiths have their roadmaps, guides and sages…people of wisdom as my wife says…who have pointed the way since the dawn of time. For those of us baptized in the Christian Faith, our roadmap is the Holy Bible consisting of the Old & New Testament. Besides reading the Bible, there are thousands of wonderful books out there to help connect the dots and bring context. Knowing the History of the Catholic Church is essential to ALL Christians…because in the beginning of Christianity there was only the Catholic Church…as it was founded by our Lord Jesus Christ who entrusted it to Peter. Knowing what Tertullian meant when he asked the famous question, “What has Athens to do with Jerusalem?” is one of the most revealing dots connecting us to the mystery of our faith. Saint Augustine’s “City of God”, the Monastic Phase, the history of Martyrdom, the why’s and repercussions of Martin Luther’s split, the Miracle of Fatima, Pope Paul VI’s “Humanae Vitae”, Bella Dodd and Vatican 2 along with books like “Rabi Jesus” by Bruce Chilton and “New Earth” by Eckhart Tolle all become more than bread crumbs…they become stars in the physical firmament guiding us to the ultimate destination of our spiritual home.

But these are all merely external tools of our knowing, which in and of themselves provide only the wind in our sails. Each and every one of us came into this physical existence with an internal knowing that is in fact our rudder. It is like our personal harvester that we trust to separate the wheat from the chaff. The freedom for us as individuals to combine the external with our own internal is the very formula that gave birth to Western Civilization! But this freedom comes with a warning on the label. Eberhard has referenced it above. Ben Franklin referenced it at the birth of our Republic when asked by a woman “What have you given us sir?” To which he replied, “A Republic madam, if you can keep it.” My warning to you is this, unless you intend to follow the breadcrumbs to their destination, DO NOT…I repeat DO NOT pick up the first one! Quite simply, there are two options. Ignorance may be bliss, but knowing is the Pandora of our salvation. Knowing invites the “mortal danger” exactly as Eberhard describes, but it also lifts our essence beyond the swing of the executioner’s axe.

Acting the Faith may very well mean losing the roof over your head. We are living in the most dangerous déjà vu times imaginable. This Friday, I am meeting with the grandson of Eberhard Arnold, Christoph Arnold as God has led me to do. I am reading the book “An Embassy Besieged” which chronicles the story of his grandfather, the community he founded and their persecution by the Nazis. Eberhard never lived to see Hitler defeated and Europe liberated, having died in 1935. But his leadership and personal courage inspired others to stand in the light through the darkest of circumstances most of us could never possibly imagine. What they know that we’ve forgotten is that persecution begins as the most seemingly harmless weed in the garden…until one day it has strangled every other form of life that garden had to offer! It is the same weed that imposes the HHS Mandate from the Oval Office and the very same revealing weed that sprouts from Emanuel’s lips as he seeks to drive Faith from the garden. They may walk back their words, but they will never walk back their intention…which is everything one needs to know! What more does one need to see, than the very Bust of Churchill expunged from the White House much the same as the Bruderhof were expunged from Nazi Germany? If not for Churchill’s lonely stand in the face of Tyranny, it is quite probable that there would no longer be a trace of Jewish DNA on this planet (Which for me personally means I would have missed the greatest love I have ever known.)! You know that only the weed is capable of this.

When you bring thoughtful prayer into the knowing heart, conviction is formed and your action is ordained. We literally have no choice in the matter at this point. Atheists are free to choose their own path, but for those of us who have followed the breadcrumbs from prayer to knowledge to action as ambassadors, we can only be the manifestation of God’s Will. In closing I wish to express my gratitude to Alicia for providing the seed for this writing. I would also like to thank my good friend Simeon for loaning me “An Embassy Besieged” May God continue to bless us with the strength to stand in the light at all costs!

After reading an e-mail from someone today referring to a “neocon hijacked Tea Party” I literally wanted to crawl under the covers. I felt defeated and wondered what I was fighting for and then I read Sunday Morning Tune-up. When I read the line ” Each and every one of us came into this physical existence with an internal knowing that is in fact our rudder.” – I knew in my heart that those words were meant for me. Then I looked up something I jotted down the other day and it was:
    Isaiah 40:31
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

    Need I say more?

I have to confess Lidia that when I first saw there was a comment in response to this morning’s SMTU, I recoiled slightly anticipating an attack from my “tolerant” fan base…only to be renewed by you! The lesson for me and I pray for you as well; We cannot second guess the divine plan. The experience tells me I need work on equanimity. We must trust in God’s wisdom…and delight in who we are, whether we open the door to find the friend or find the jackal. The pot is on the boil my friend, trust in yourself and hold on tight! 😉
